MELBOURNE, April 4, 2026: An employee of the ‘Swarna Bhawan’, Dharam Singh was on early morning (around 4-4.30 am) 2nd April, allegedly bashed and racially abused by a guy, as he waited for a bus to go home at a bus stand in Truganina, west of Melbourne’s CBD.
A source close to Dharam Singh told SAT that punching by the attacker made Dharam Singh to fall down. Later he was admitted to hospital, with major injuries on his face and even internal bleeding near the brain. Dharam has been discharged from the Werribee hospital. His recovery could take about two weeks, the source said.
The alleged attacker is in police custody.
Swarna Bhawan is a popular South Indian restaurant chain in Melbourne and has a centralised kitchen in the West where Dharam Singh works. Swarna Bhawan has outlets in the city, Narre Warren, Baronia, Werribee, and Truganina.
