MELBOURNE, 29 April 2022: It is now almost clear Intaj Khan, two times Councilor, leading educationist and, businessman is likely to be a Liberal candidate from the West in the November Victorian elections this year. Intaj has been making news over the years when he was in the Victorian Labor Party and made media headlines. He is a Liberal Party member now and active in the party.

The indication of Intaj Khan’s political ambitions maturing came from the Leader of the Opposition, Matthew Guy who said, ” Intaj Khan is a true community leader and should represent the area he lives in.” Mr. Guy was addressing an Iftar event today evening at the Agora Turkish Restaurant, Docklands organized by the Australian Muslim Business Council and MUSID Australia.

Mr.Guy while addressing the large select gathering also promised the Muslim community ‘Azan’ (Muslim call to ritual prayer) rights during Ramadan in Victoria. If I come to power, we will change the rules about Azan, he said. The Leader of the Opposition also praised Intaj Khan’s hard work for all communities in the Western suburbs.

The Iftar event was also addressed by Intaj Khan and prominent community leaders and influencers from the West. The Leader of Opposition did not name any constituency or when an official announcement of seat allocation will take place. The West has a high number of voters from the subcontinent and other multicultural communities. Intaj Khan’s entering the election fray will be keenly observed.
