Man charged following Mill Park double homicide

MELBOURNE, 25 January 2022: An Indian-origin man (40-years-old Prabhal Sharma) who allegedly stabbed to death his wife (39-years-old Poonam Sharma) and six-year-old daughter (Venessa) in Mill Park on 13 January 2022, has been charged with two counts of murder. His 10-year-old daughter was also stabbed but she survived. He will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on May 17, 2022. He remains in police guard in hospital after on the same day of the incident he tried to harm himself.

On the incident day, the stabbed lady ran to safety to the neighbors home and died. The critically injured girl died the next day in the hospital. The alleged charged man is yet to be interviewed by cops.

Reports indicate emergency crews, paramedics, and police had attended the Kellaway Crescent home in the afternoon where the incident took place later, to perform a welfare check.
