MELBOURNE, 23 September 2022: I was at the Casy Garbha 2022 today and amid the colorful Gujarati festival was a corner selling Paan, betel leaves prepared and used as a stimulant. It is very popular across South Asian countries. Only ‘Meetha Paan’ was available. Other Paan combinations which have tobacco were not there.
The stall called the ‘Patel Paan’ run by two Patels (presumed) remained popular and the fellows were busy. Various ingredients for making ‘Meetha Paan’ (Sweet Paan) like Supari, flavored Supari, coconut powder, chatni (sweet), saunf could be seen displayed.
The Patels told SAT, the fresh Paans are imported from India and the demand here is good. They have all the stuff for a ‘Meetha Paan’ which gives you that typical refreshing flavor.
