MELBOURNE, 5 OCTOBER, 2024: The Mental Health Foundation Australia (MHFA) announced the National Multicultural Mental Health Month 2024, set to run from 1 October to 31 October. This month-long campaign celebrates the rich cultural diversity of Australia while promoting mental health awareness and support within Australia’s multicultural communities. The launch function with people and supporters from many communities took place at the AICCT Hall, Rowville.
Addressing the function, Julian Hill MP, Assistant Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs, praised the MHFA for its world and said it encourages awareness and what they do does matter. Michael Sukkar MP, Shadow Minister for Social Services, NDIS, Housing and Homelessness, said multicultural communities should be represented in Canberra where their policies are made. Earlier, Vasan Srinivasan, CEO MHFA, made the opening speech detailing the month long program and acknowledging those present from different communities.
The well-attended function saw individuals active in the field being awarded and recognised. A Supportive Mind app was launched along with exciting auctions and raffles to win amazing prizes, while fundraising for an important cause of promoting better mental health for multicultural communities and all others.
