MELBOURNE, 31 August 2024: Scores of people planted trees at the Sant Nirankari Bhawan today, to continue the mission to have more trees started on the World Environment Day on June 5, 2024. On a cold chilly evening the Indian Consul General, Dr. Sushil Kumar, joined volunteers from the Nirankari Bhawan to plant trees at the Bhawan situated in Rowville, south eastern suburb.
The Indian Consulate was, in fact, continuing the tree plantation drive launched by the Indian PM Modi on the World Environment Day. Despite the cold breeze, the beautiful trees were inserted into special pits and watered. It was a perfect occasion for group photographs. After all, the plantation act was to enrich mother Earth and protect the environment.
The guests then moved inside the Bhawan and a lively networking session on environment and other issues ensued. Mr. Sunny Duggal, assured the gathering that the Nirankari Mandal will have more trees planted to continue the greening mission. This was followed by the traditional ‘langar’ (community feating).
