Nostalgic farewell to Indian Consul-General Mr. Raj Kumar

MELBOURNE, 17 June 2022: The Indian Diaspora here has been growing over the years and is large now. They regularly travel to and fro India, which was only disrupted during the pandemic. The constant need for passports and visas is never-ending, a need catered by the Indian Consulate. It also fulfills some of its cultural needs and important visitors from India are facilitated. Mr. Raj Kumar, the Consul-General is ending his tenure and will fly back to New Delhi on July 1, 2022.

A widely attended farewell at the Consulate hall today, gave Mr. Raj Kumar a fitting bye-bye event. The community was in full strength in addition to the Consulate staff and well-wishers. Addressing the gathering Mr. Raj Kumar talked about his successful tenure and the cooperation and love he received from the Indian community. He nostalgically talked about the hardships during the pandemic years and how on a positive note charter flights were organized between India and Australia and Australia and India. The main organizers of these flights Gaura Travel brothers Ashwani and Abhishek were also present at the function.

The farewell event flowered with everyone taking photos and selfies with Mr. Raj Kumar. Earlier, the outgoing Consul-General introduced Mr. Nirmal Namdhari, Chairman of Multicultural Council Clyde North and community influencer as an extremely helpful and affectionate person of the community, who stood by him and called him offering help.

Manpreet Singh, SBS, Amandeep Singh, G’Day India, Neeraj Nanda, South Asia Times (SAT), Deepak Joshi, NRI Affairs, Sunny, Manjeet among many others.
