Protest against Morrison’s broken ‘partner visa’ system

MELBOURNE, 8 May 2021: An angry and emotional rally today at Victoria’s Parliament steps demanded an end to the Scott Morrison government’s broken partner visa system. The long delays in granting partner or spouse visas are ruining thousands of relationships split by the failed system with people facing emotional and mental hardships as a consequence.

Protesters from all walks of life attended the #protest4partners event, addressed by Labor Federal MP Julian Hill and Greens Senate MP Janet Rice among others. Some of the banners carried were – Have a heart ABA!, Family before business/sports/celebs! Fiance’s (e) are family, DHA process our partners, 14 months apart – Exempt my partner ABF, 18 Months Apart From My Fiance among many others.

Addressing the rally Julian Hill blasted the Scott Morrison government for this inhuman treatment and said it was also illegal to delay someone’s partner or spouse visa…
