MELBOURNE, 13 April, 2025: Sri Durga Temple, Rockbank, a prominent Hindu place of worship had good news on the eve of north Indian spring festival, Vaisakhi – an announcement of $ 5 million grant offer, from the Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, for the Sri Durga Temple Community, Culture and Education Centre, if Labor is re- elected on May 3, 2025 federal election.
On 11 April, 2025, a new car park made possible by a $400,000 grant from Victoria’s Multicultural Infrastructure Fund, was inaugurated by the state’s Multicultural Minister, Ingrid Stitt. Earlier, both PM Anthony Albanese and Leader of Opposition, Peter Dutton promised to fund a Hindu school in Sydney.
Durga Temple Vice President Gary Verma and other officials said, ” We thank the Labor team and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for recognising the importance of cultural and educational spaces like ours at the Sri Durga Temple.”
He adds, ” We were honoured to welcome Labor friends Sam Rae MP (Hawke), Michelle Ananda-Rajah MP and Victorian Senate candidate , and Alice Jordan Baird, Labor’s Candidate for Gorton, to Sri Durga Temple for a special news from our Prime Minister today.”
The Sri Durga Temple is one of the biggest Hindu temple, 28 km west of the Melbourne central business district, is thronged by thousands of devotees every year. The temple is situated at 705-715 Neale Road, Rockbank, 3335, Victoria, Melbourne.
