MELBOURNE, 28 October 2023: The Somavamsha Sahasrarjuna Kshatriya Hindu Association Australia (SSKHAA) celebrated Dussehra and Diwali today with gaiety and fervour by the community families assembling at the Springvale Reserve and celebrating their festival.

The event took off with ‘Aarthi’ (prayers and rituals of Goddess Laxmi) followed by a skit from the ‘Ramayana’, ‘Sita Swayambaram’ where the heavy ‘Dhanush’ (Bow) is broken by ‘Rama’, after many others fail to do so. This was the condition for the marriage of ‘Sita’ (Raja Janak’s daughter) and the successful ‘Rama’ is married to ‘Sita’. The skit performed by kids decorated and in traditional gear did a good job. A commentary and power point presentation accompanied the skit.

Apart from the speeches there were dances (classical and Bollywood), Shlokas (sacred verses and hymns), and other cultural programs that were appreciated by those present. Also, present were Labor candidate for the Mulgrave by-election Eden Foster, former Mayor Greater Dandenong (replacing ex-Premier Daniel Andrews) and Lee Tarmalis MP , Labor Member for the South Eastern Metropolitan Region. The MPs were welcomed and they participated in the function.

The largely attended function had all the festivities including dancing, networking and dinner. The ambience of the festival season was in full swing.
