SYDNEY, 28 March 2025: Australia’s famous Indian cuisine Chef, Mr.Sunil Tyagi, owner of Indian Star Restaurant, Melbourne, was honoured with a Doctorate of Hospitality at a grand and glittering ceremony at the NSW Parliament, Sydney, at the Sorbon International Convention held there.
Mr. Sunil Tyagi, has been proudly running the Indian Star Restaurant, through the Tyagi Pty. Ltd., for many years in Moonee Ponds, serving the perfect blend of traditional recipes and the freshest ingredients. It is one of the finest Indian Restaurant in Melbourne. He is a graduate of the Pusa Catering College, New Delhi.
Before landing in Australia, Mr. Tyagi has worked as a Indian Chef and promoted Indian cuisine in United Kingdom, Japan, Netherlands, Hong Kong, and Scandinavian countries.
A fine Chef, Mr. Sunil Tyagi is also a music enthusiast and has a passion for playing and singing in indian classical music and is also a renowned performer across many venues in Melbourne.
Further more Mr Sunil Tyagi has also run many food establishments over his glamorous 45 year and growing career. He has been graced with many awards both national and Victorian state, the most recent being 2024 Victorian Indian restaurant of the year.
Chloe Quintin, Consul, Consulate Général of France Sydney, Dr Janakiraman, Consul General of India, Sydney and three MPs belonging to the Labor Party and one to the Liberal Party were present at the convocation.
The event was opened with a tour of the NSW Parliament, which provided the attendees with a rich insight into the historical and political significance of the centre of democracy. Deputy Leader of the NSW Liberal Party, Natalie Peta Ward, and NSW Legislative Member Kellie Anne Sloane were among the prominent figures in attendance, reflecting the importance of the ceremony and reflecting the close ties between educational initiatives and governmental support.
The program also saw the participation of figures from the corporate and sports sectors, including Mumbai real estate tycoon Dr. Rajendra Chaturvedi, veteran cricketer Greg Matthews, and Sydney real estate titan and golfer Dr. Chandru Tolani. Their presence brought an additional layer of prestige and diversity to the gathering, illustrating the wide-ranging impact of Sorbon’s educational work and network.
Veteran banker and financial wizard Dr. Prasad Pradhan shared his insights into the economic implications of educational advancements, while Global Peace Ambassador Dr. Binny Sareen gave his views on the role of education in promoting peace and goodwill between Australia and India in addition to other countries.
