MELBOURNE, 25 February 2022: Hindi Diwas and Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas were observed at the Indian Consulate here today. A select gathering was present on the occasion. Hindi poets recited poetry and speeches asking people to keep talking in Hindi at home. The poetry recitals by Rajan Chopra, Manjula Thakur, and Arvind Gaindhar added poetic flavor to the atmosphere. Arvind Gander’s ‘baa’ was appreciated for its innovative style.

Certificates were given away to all those who had participated in various Hindi contests organized by the Indian government. This was preceded by messages from the Indian PM, Foreign Minister, and the Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture. A boy sang an Indian patriotic song. The announcement of a portal for overseas Indians was also announced.

Later the Indian Consulate staff mingled with those present with snacks and Tea. And, lots of networking took place.
