V. Muraleedharan visit to Sydney & Melbourne

MELBOURNE, 18 February 2023: Aiming to connect to the Indian communities in Sydney and Melbourne, India’s Minister For External Affaires, Mr. V. Murlaeedharan interacted with the Diaspora in these major Australian cities as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mathotsav.’ In fact, while on his way to Fiji for a one day visit, the Minister interacted with the Indian Diaspora in Sydney and on his way back visited Melbourne, where he addressed the Indian Diaspora at the Indian Consulate, Melbourne.

Addressing the gathering here, the Minister said, he was interacting with the Indian Diaspora as desired by the Indian PM Modi to understand their issues and  consolidating the strong and growing relations between Australia and India, having common interests. He also detailed the activities taking place across India for the upcoming G20 Summit.

He also touched the subjects of growing Indian students in in Australia and collaboration between the two countries in various sectors. He praised the collaboration of Indian and Australian universities. The Indian Diaspora, he said, was helping building bridges between India and the country they live in .

In a Tweet Mr. V. Muraleedharan says, “held fruitful discussions on wide ranging subjects of our ever growing bilateral relationship with Treasurer and Minister for Industrial Relations, Trade & Investment of Victoria, Tim Pallas. Also, discussed matters related to Indian diaspora.”
A cultural program also took place on the occasion. The Indian Minister will also visit Perth to interact with the Diaspora.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Muraleedharan started his day in Melbourne by paying tribute to the soldiers, who laid down their lives during the 2 World Wars, at Shrine of Remembrance.
