Vaishakhi celebration at Victoria’s Parliament

MELBOURNE, 16 APRIL, 2024: Vishakhi was celebrated today at the Parliament of Victoria, with great enthusiasm and gaiety. The celebration showcased the rich traditions & cultural diversity including Shabad, folksong, Punjabi Bhangara and Gidha dances. Speakers highlighted the significance of Vaishakhi celebrations in promoting unity, equality, social cohesiveness, and community service.

Among those who attended were Nick Staikos MP, Steve McGhie Mp ,Luba Grigorovitch MP, Evan Mulholland MP, Sam Groth MP, Viv Nguyen- Victorian Multicultural Commissioner, Dr. Sushil Kumar, Consul General of India in Melbourne and members from the Indian diaspora.

The organisers acknowledged the contribution of Kamaljot Singh for Shabad, Kala Doria team with Rupinder Kaur, entire team of Bhangra Roots, Gurvinder Singh from United Sikhs, and Kaur Sherry for the Punjabi folk song.
