Indian Consulate organises ‘Viksit Bharat Run 2025’ in Melbourne

MELBOURNE, 28 September, 2025: A large number of Indian Diaspora including Indian Consul General, Dr. Sushil Kumar and Labor MPs, Lee Tarlamis MP and Neena Taylor MP  participated in a 5 km walk/run through the garden adjacent to the Shrine of Remembrance. The run was held simultaneously across over 150 countries. The run which kicked off from the Indian Consulate, St. Kilda Road, came back to the Consulate after circling the designated route.

The run was preceded by a function at the Consulate Hall and was addressed by Dr Sushil Kumar, Lee Tarlamis and Neena Taylor, followed by lively classical Manipuri dance recital and songs. Dr. Sushil Kumar detailed the concept behind the event being an outreach to continue the journey towards a developed and self-reliant India.

The initiative for this event was from India’s  Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS), and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), says the PIB media release.

After the cultural show the participants then assembled in front of the Consulate and the run started. On the way there were many individual and group photos taken. Later at the Consulate the participants mingled for networking and tasty Samosas, Kachori, Ladoo, and gulab jamun sweets distributed apart from the fresh Australian Bananas and mini oranges for fruit lovers.
