IFFM-2023 Curtain Raiser: Rani, Karan & Kartik Aaryan shine

MELBOURNE, 10 August: It were the three prominent personalities of the Mumbai film industry – actress Rani Mukerji, director Karan Johar and actor Kartik Aaryan stole the hearts of fans who filled up the first floor of the Immigration Museum, Flinders Street. One after other they were interviewed by Rajeev Masand, famous film critic.

The enthusiasm was high and the media, fans, movie buffs left the solid proof of the Indian movie industry’s immense popularity among the Diaspora in Australia. The ambience was overwhelmingly cinematic and there was  regular clapping as Rajeev Masand engaged the guests in his style.

Rani Mukerji, fresh from the success of ‘Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway’ documenting the true story of a couple whose world turned upside down after their children were taken away from them in Norway, was candid in her answers about her career spanning many movies.

Karan Johar, basking in the commercial success of his seventh directorial venture – Rocky and Rani, answered Rajeev Masand tracing how a director faces many issues and how the pre-release of Rocky and Rani, saw his efforts to know how the audiences could react. In fact, it was evident, there is nothing like success.

Kartik Aaryan, the young rocking actor with around 13 movies to his credit including Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and the current Satyaprem Ki Katha, recently performed well at Box Office and shown at the festival, smiled talking about his struggles and success.

Kartik while talking about how he was to become an engineer and went into acting, thanked the film festival for having him and the audience for their support.
