Melbourne: Bollywood megastar and icon Amitabh Bachchan was on May 2 honoured with the IFFM-2014 International Screen Icon award, at a star studded and glittering ceremony at the Princess Theatre last night.
Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Bhaag Milkh Bhaag’, a biopic on legendary athlete Milkha Singh, bagged three awards – best film, best direction and best actor awards.
Amitabh Bachchan was described a true Bollywood legend by the Minister of Arts, Victoria, Heidi Victoria MP, in a packed theatre. Thousands had earlier waited outside to see their favourite Big-B.
‘Lunchbox’ was awarded the best film while Kangna (Queen fame) was declared the best actress, Irfan Khan (Lunch Box) and Farhan Akthar (Bhag Milkha Bhag) the best actors.
Bhag Milkha Bhag got three awards – Best Direction, Best Actor and Best Actor.
The People’s Choice Award went to Dhoom-3 which grossed 1.7 million dollars in Australia as compared to Dhoom 1 which collected $ 15,000.
