IFFM 2024: Theatre was the foundation of my career : Imtiaz Ali

MELBOURNE, Australia: I caught-up with Director Imtiaz Ali during the sidelines of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2024, and asked him about his involvement in ‘My Melbourne’, his latest successful movie ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’, the type of movies he could make including content and the the release of films on streaming services among others.

The simple and classy Imtiaz Ali, whose origins are in theatre, was born in Jamshedpur and was educated in Patna, Delhi and Mumbai.  Studying in  Delhi University’s Hindu College, took to theatre and never looked back. As a movie maker his journey started at Zee TV and Doordarshan. Later, he made or was involved with Socha Na Tha, Love Aaj Kal, Jab We Met, Cocktail, Rockstar, Highway, Tamasha, Thai Massage, Amar Singh Chamkila and My Melbourne among others.
