INTERVIEW: There are challenges to get into a character – Shefali Shah

MELBOURNE, 17 August 2022: Shefali Shah won the prestigious Best Actress Award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM-2022), for her performance in Jalsa which explored themes of social disparities and moral corruption. Her recent ‘Darlings’ where she plays a mom, has been creating global waves on Netflix. In fact, she has been called the Darling of OTT, after the success of her production like Delhi Crime.

I caught up with Shefali on the first day (12 Aug 2022) of the IFFM-2022, where she answered questions on subjects like Darlings, the OTT wave, and watching a movie in the theatre. She feels getting into a character is full of challenges that come from the way the script is written.

Shefali also talks about her upcoming productions.

While she loves watching movies in a theatre, she is frank to talk about the wide scope of OTT platforms that stream productions across the globe without the pangs of Box Office results. The content from different countries in OTT, she feels gives a huge exposure. To an actor, this is also an inspiration for upcoming work, she says.

Apologies for not having the best audio.
