Riya Bhattacharya’s Marathi song ‘Deh Petude’ creating waves

Riya Bhattacharya’s star is rising with her newest song, “Deh Petude,” from Marathi film De Dhakka 2, earning love and appreciation. It already has 3.4 lac views on YouTube after just 2 days. This melodious song is expected to reach one million viewers in the next 15 days.

On the success of De Dhakka 2, Riya says that she considers herself lucky to have received the chance to sing this song. She adds, “I want to thank director Mahesh Manjrekar and composer Hitesh Modak for giving me such an important song.”

Riya aspired to become a singer since childhood and was the second runner-up in the popular 2017 music competition, Om Shanti Om. Since then, she has been imprinting the town with her singing. Baba Ramdev, singer-composer Shekhar Ravijani, actress Sonakshi Sinha, and singer Kanika Kapoor Om Shanti Om’s judging panel. Aparshakti Khurana hosted it.

While for some, just making her presence felt on the stage of Star Bharat would be an achievement in itself. But Riya went ahead and won the second runner-up title. After the reality show, Riya got absorbed in her stage shows around the country and abroad, though the desire to sing in films burned bright. The success of the song Deh Petude has brought her into the limelight, and she has begun getting offers for playback singing.

Riya was born and brought up in Bokaro Steel City, and the success of Om Shanti Om bestowed her with the tag of Chas Bokaro’s daughter. After completing high school at DPS Bokaro in 2014, she went to Delhi for further studies.

She said I did a few years of my schooling in Bluebells School International When I was really small. & then also studied music in Miranda House, Delhi University & used to stay near North Campus.

I love Delhi for its extraordinary food & famous street shopping. I have loads of college memories where we used to win a lot of Inter college music competitions. Delhi surely has an important role to play in my musical journey. while simultaneously preparing for music competitions. In 2017 her talent was recognized by the judges of Om Shanti Om, making her a well-known singer.

Riya says there is no singer in the family, but, “My mother is very fond of music, and she always encouraged my singing. She has full faith in my talent. So she always encourages me to sing better.” Riya.

Riya’s heartfelt wish is to lend her voice to songs for actresses Alia Bhatt and Amrita Khanvilkar. Riya is an engaging performer, a melodious singer, and quite good-looking. So, if offered a role in a film or web series, will she accept it? “I don’t know if I will be able to act or not, but if any offer comes, then there is no harm in trying. Although I am naturally shy, time will tell how successful I will be.”

Would she participate in more reality shows? “I don’t want to be a part of a singing reality show once again at this point because I want to focus on my playback singing journey.” She wants to pen and compose songs and work towards being a better musician. All the best to her!
