Leeds based Asim Abbasi, British-Pakistani filmmaker’s ‘Churails’ is releasing on 11 August on the Zee5 streaming service in India. Hopefully, it can be seen in Australia also. The 10-episodes women-centric serial is about 50 minutes or so long each and “…tackles sexual stereotypes in groundbreaking new drama series,..”, says the gurdian.com.

The zee5.com says, Churails is a ZEE5 Exclusive Zindagi Original series starring Sarwat Gillani, Mehar Bano, Nirma Bucha, and Yasra Rizvi. Set in Karachi, the series revolves around four young women who form a secret detective agency under the guise of a fashion store named ‘Halal Designs’ with the purpose of finding and exposing unfaithful husbands amongst Karachi’s elite.”

Well, it looks, the serial is likely to fly sparks amidst the never-ending India-Pakistan sniping. A story in dawn.com.says, ” The stakes behind Churails are high, but not because of its subject matter, or its association with an Indian streaming platform inching its way to local consumers at a price point cheaper than Netflix, or the resulting reopening of floodgates of Indian content in Pakistan (one Zee5 subscription gives access to Indian soaps, dramas, and movies). The issue, disgruntled voices from the industry say, compounds all of these aspects together.
