Inaugural Celebration of Gudipadava & Ram Navmi Mahotsava in Melbourne

For the first time we are going to celebrate the Gudipadva and Sri Ram Navmi – Nav Ratri during 6 April to 14 April 2008 at the Shiva Vishnu Temple in Carrum Downs. This celebration has been made possible by the support of Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC).

A separate marquee within the premises of the Temple will be used for the celebrations to provide interruption free, proceedings. The celebration will start on Sunday the 6th April at 10 am with Shri Ganesh, Shiva Shakti and Gudi Padva Pujas. This will be followed by the Lunch Prasadam.

The devotees will be able to recite the complete “Shri Ram Charit Manas”-Ramayana, during the Navaratri period from Monday 7th to Monday 14 April 2008. The times of the daily Ramayan recitation are available from the advertisement in the March issue of “The South Asia Times”. Sri Ram Yagna (Sri Ram Jairam Jai Jai Ram) will also be performed with 1.5 million Ahutis on Saturday 12 April between 7 am to 12 noon. This yagna will be followed by the Lunch Prasadam. The afternoon of this Saturday has been dedicated to the recitation of Sunderkand, Hanuman Chalisa and Sankat Mochan from 4 to 9 pm. The ceremony will conclude on Ram Navami day on Monday 14th April 2008 at 12 noon with the Cradle Ceremony depicting the birth of Lord Ram Ji. This will be followed by the Lunch Prasadam. Everyday recitation of Ramayana will conclude with Aarati, Pushpanjali, Ram Raksha and Shanti Path recitation followed by the Prasadam.

The devotees who would like to participate in the daily recitation of Ramayana as per their convenience and availability should contact Arvind or Sunila Shrivastava on 0412753763. Devotees are requested to bring their own cushions for their comfort. There will be provision of few chairs for people with need.
