Australia advices ‘high degree of caution’ while travelling to India

MELBOURNE, 30 December 2021: Australia has updated its advice to those traveling to India. The new advice came on 29 December 2021.

In its latest update, the Australian government travel website smartraveller.com.au says, ” Due to a rise in COVID-19 cases, some states and union territories have introduced additional restrictions, including night curfews, school closures and limits to retail and public transport capacity. Restrictions may change at short notice.

We now advise: Exercise a high degree of caution in India overall due to: the high threat of terrorist activity, civil unrest and crime, and the high rate of vehicle accidents the impacts of COVID-19.”

It further says, “do not travel to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir; and the India-Pakistan border and reconsider your need to travel to the North-eastern states of Assam (except Guwahati), Nagaland and Manipur Chhattisgarh; and the border areas of neighboring states due to the high risk of violence.”
