MELBOURNE,27 MARCH 2022: International flights open up today (Sunday, 27 March 2022) to and fro from India. This ends the flights ‘air bubble’ which was operating limited flights with 37 countries. From today, reports say, six airlines will start operating international flights, although the Ukraine crisis could have a shadow over the opening.

For example, for people traveling from Australia to India, the air tickets are not likely to be the pre-pandemic rates, but around $ 1000 plus (return). Crude prices have been shooting up since the Ukraine crisis and jet-fuel prices are very high. Hence cheap air tickets look remote.

As per revised #COVID19 guidelines, the Airports Authority of India has removed the restriction of keeping 3 seats vacant on International flights. Also, the requirement of a complete PPE kit for crew members stands removed: Airports Authority of India reports ANI.

A Newsmedia report reveals six Indian and 60 foreign airlines from 40 countries — but none from China as of now — will from Sunday (27 March 2022) operate 3,249 weekly flights to and from India under the summer schedule and 505 weekly flights, IndiGo will have the highest international departures on a standalone basis among all airlines, followed by Air India at 361, AI Express at 340 and Emirates at 170. Three Tata Group airlines — AI, AI Express and Vistara — will have 757 weekly flights, including the only ones by an Indian carrier to North America, Europe, the Far East and Australia. IndiGo’s Istanbul flight will resume from May 1; its pre-pandemic China flights have not yet restarted.
