India releases spectacular photos of ‘world’s highest bridge’ in J-K

MELBOURNE, 10 February 2022: India has released on Twitter stunning photographs of the ‘world’s highest bridge’ on Twitter. The bridge ‘Chenab Bridge’ over the Chenab river in Jammu-Kashmir is 359 meters high (Eiffel Tower is 35 meters less) is being built between the villages of Bakkal and Kauri in the Reasi district.

India’s Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw has Tweeted four beautiful photos of the upcoming bridge across the Chenab towering over clouds. The length of the bridge is 1,315 meters, 17 spans of which the main stead arch portion across the Chenab is 476 meters long. The Chenab is a quarter a mile below the bridge.

The bridge will be secured for any eventuality and can withstand earthquakes and high-blasts up to a magnitude intensity of 8, reports Sputnik News.

The bridge will be a crucial link in the 111 km long stretch between Katra and Banihal – part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramullah section of the Jammu-Kashmir Railways.
