RICHARD WALKER, Chief International Editor, DW (Based in Berlin) has Tweeted (See below) a video of the German Foreign Ministry’s statement on the RAHUL GANDHI case being commented by a spokesperson on 30 March, 2023. The comment has three points – 1. Rahul Gandhi’s verdict, suspension for the Indian Parliament, 2. It says the appeal against the verdict will show if it stands and his suspension has any basis and 3. Germany expects judicial independence and democratic principles. Congress leader and MP Digvijay Singh has thanked the German Foreign Affairs Ministry and Richard Walker for “taking note of how Democracy is being compromised in India through the persecution of Rahul Gandhi”, reports Asia News International (ANI), in a Tweet.
ANI adds: Meanwhile, in a response, India’s Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju criticised the Congress and Rahul Gandhi for inviting foreign powers to interfere in India’s internal matters and said “remember, Indian Judiciary can’t be influenced by foreign interference. India won’t tolerate ‘foreign influence’ anymore because our Prime Minister is Narendra Modi.”
“Thank you Rahul Gandhi for inviting foreign powers for interference into India’s internal matters. Remember, Indian Judiciary can’t be influenced by foreign interference. India won’t tolerate ‘foreign influence’ anymore because our Prime Minister is:- Shri @narendramodi Ji,” tweeted the Minister.
