Indian Agri delegation visits Australian wholesale markets

MELBOURNE, 22 June 2022: In a bid to get inspiration on how Australian agricultural wholesale markets work, an 11-member delegation of Indian market boards is here for eight days (17-24 June 2022) touring the country. The delegation led by Mr. Baldev Singh Bhandari, Chairman, and Dr.J S Yadav, Director of the World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) and Asia Pacific Regional Group on Wholesale Markets went around Melbourne and Sydney looking at wholesale markets.

The eleven delegation members from Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand took part in specialized meetings collection of data and exchanging experiences with Australian counterparts.

The delegation visited the Melbourne Wholesale Market, Epping, and interacted with the CEO of the Market. A lot of takeaways were gathered in terms of infrastructure, handling protocols, management systems, etc with possible joint ventures and private investment.

The delegation also visited Sydney Market, Sydney Fish Market, and Paddy’s Markets, Sydney, and interacted with authorities.

The delegates had an opportunity to interact with the Australi India Business Council members in Sydney and identified areas of future cooperation. An MOU will be signed between COSAMB India and AIBC for regular cooperation.

The delegation also met the Indian Consul General here, Mr.Raj Kumar, who assured all cooperation for any business venture.

The delegation’s visit to Australia is organized and coordinated by SAP global, Melbourne.
