Indian banks wrote off Rs 8,48,156 crore from 2019-2022

NEW DELHI: Indian public and private sector banks wrote off Rs. 8,48,156 crore from 2019 to 2022 (four years), India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman told in a reply to the Indian Parliament, on a question by K. Subbarayan, CPI on 12 November, 2022. In his question to the Indian Mionister, Mr Subbarayan asked for information on ‘details of amount written off in respect of Non-Performing Assetts (NPAs) of banks between the years 2019-2022, account and bank-wise; and the percentage of education loans to the NPAs?’ (Lok Sabha Starred Question No. 67).
