Homage to veteran Indian journalist Yogesh Vajpayee

NEW DELHI, 7 February, 2026: A condolence meeting was held at the Press Club of India (PCI), to pay homage to veteran journalist Yogesh Vajpayee, who passed away at his home in Noida.

Yogesh Vajpeyi, born six months before India’s Independence, passed away peacefully on 28th January 2026 at his residence in Noida. Starting with National Herald he worked with Northern India Patrika, Times of India, The Indian Express, The New Indian Express, The Telegraph and Tehelka. Of late, he was associated with Lokmat Times. Known for his incisive reporting and deep understanding of UP politics, he was the recipient of the Sarojini Naidu Prize for Best Reporting on Women and Panchayati Raj (2001-02).

He is survived by his wife, and two children.

The meeting at PCI profound grief and sorrow at his passing away and praying to the almighty to give enough strength to his immediate family and friends to bear the loss and praying to the almighty to give enough strength to his immediate family and friends to bear the loss.

Among those who attended the meeting included his daughter Katha Kartiki, son Abhinav Ashwini,  Dr. Satish Mishra, veteran journalist, Dev Sagar Singh, former bureau chief, Indian Express, Joseph Maliakan, Former special correspondent, Indian Express, SK Pandey, Former Special Correspondent, The Hindu, Sharad Gupta, Former Special Correspondent, Indian Express and PCI Secretary General Afzal Imam.

In attendance were also former Express group colleagues Ajay Suri, Sushil Kumar Singh, Rajesh Sinha, Manohar Naik, Veteran journalists Rajiv Sharma, and Gyanendra Pandey.
