MELBOURNE, November 11, 2025: The Cricket Australia (CA) has announced a ticket ballot will be held for the 150th Anniversary Test at the MCG between Australia and England, 11-15 March 2027.
Mike Baird, Cricket Australia Chair said, “The 150th Anniversary Test will bring the cricket world to Melbourne and we anticipate there will be enormous demand from fans wanting to be part of this historic event.
“We have introduced a ballot for the first time to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to be part of what will be a fantastic occasion and we will soon open Cricket Australia Travel Office packages to help fans get to the MCG.
To be played under lights, Cricket’s Greatest Show will honour the past, celebrate the present and ignite the future of the game with the day/night timeslot ensuring more people can attend.
With fans from across Australia and overseas expected to converge on Melbourne, CA has implemented a ticket ballot for the first time to ensure all fans have an equal opportunity to secure their tickets.
Steve Dimopoulos, Victorian Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, said, “Melbourne is the sporting capital of Australia, and we continue to get on the front foot and secure incredible events.”
The ballot window will be open from December 23, 2025, to February 6, 2026, with fans able to enter at any time during that period. When the ballot closes, all entries will be randomised to determine the order in which tickets are allocated with successful applicants notified by February 13.
CA also announced that Cricket Australia Travel Office (CATO) travel packages for the match will go on sale on November 21, 2025, to cater for the huge influx of cricket fans expected to travel to Melbourne for the match.
The 150th Anniversary Test is the sequel to the Centenary Test which celebrated 100 years since the first Test also played at the MCG in 1877.
The Centenary Test was described at the time as the biggest sporting event in Melbourne since the 1956 Olympics with Australia’s 45 run victory mirroring that of the first Test match and featuring iconic moments such as David Hookes’ five successive boundaries and Rick McCosker batting with a broken jaw becoming part of Test cricket lore.
As well as the storied Australia-England rivalry at one of the world’s great sports venues, the 150th Anniversary Test will bring together legends from all cricketing nations and feature world class entertainment.
Stuart Fox, Melbourne Cricket Club CEO said, “We are honoured to have this opportunity to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first-ever International Test Match at the MCG.
