MELBOURNE, 22 December, 2024: The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, will be at the MCG on Boxing Day (26 December, 2024) to witness the 4th Test between Australia and India, for the Border-Gavaskar Series.
A source from the Premier Jacinta Allan’s office has confirmed the proposed attendance of Bhagwant Mann for the Boxing Day Test.
Premier Jacinta Allan says, “The Boxing Day Test holds a special place in the hearts and minds of all Victorians and is an iconic event in Australia’s sporting calendar.
It’s not just loved by Australians, but this year’s test is bringing together two test cricket-loving nations, celebrating Victoria’s strong ties with India.
Thousands of fans are expected to flock to the G and I’m so pleased that this year we are also extending the celebrations with a Summer Festival in Yarra Park celebrating the rich connection between India and Victoria, with a focus on food, music, art, cricket and community.
I’m pleased to announce that the Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, will be joining me to enjoy the start of this historic Boxing Day Test match.
Our Indian community contributes so much to Victoria, and I look forward to hosting the Chief Minister here in Victoria to further strengthen the relationship between Victoria and Punjab, India.”
