Whateley joins Fox Cricket as Australia gears up for South Africa tour
MELBOURNE, 27 August, 2026: Australian broadcasting veteran Gerard Whateley has been added to Fox Cricket’s commentary team for Kayo Sports’ ‘Summer of the Century’, one of the most packed cricket calendars in Australian history.
Whateley, who has called AFL Grand Finals, the Melbourne Cup, and multiple Olympic Games, will bring his signature insight to the box alongside an already stacked line-up featuring Adam Gilchrist, Isa Guha, Michael Hussey, Brett Lee, David Warner, and Allan Border, among others. He joins fellow newcomer Alyssa Healy as a fresh addition to the roster.
Fox Sports Managing Director Steve Crawley praised Whateley’s arrival: “Gerard is one of the most respected voices in Australian sports broadcasting. He will be a strong addition to what is already the best line-up of experts.”
The summer action is already underway, with Australia’s men facing South Africa from September 24, followed by series against England, New Zealand, and India, before the 150th Anniversary Test at the MCG in March. The women’s team will host Bangladesh, New Zealand, and South Africa from October, while BBL16 kicks off December 12 and WBBL begins October 29.
Whateley said: “There’s never been a cricket odyssey like this. It will captivate us and keep us glued to Fox Cricket.”
