Melbourne, Australia – In a major boost for junior cricket and cricket-inspired entertainment, Snick and Willow, the highly anticipated animated series, is thrilled to announce that Australian Test cricket captain Pat Cummins has joined the project as both an official ambassador and an upcoming character in the series.
Pat’s involvement marks a monumental step forward in the show’s mission to grow the game of cricket both domestically and globally, with a particular emphasis on inspiring the next generation of young players through accessible, engaging storytelling.
“We are beyond excited to welcome Pat Cummins to the Snick and Willow family. Not only is he one of the most respected figures in international cricket, but his passion for inspiring the next generation aligns perfectly with our mission,” “With the combined influence of Lord Ian Botham and now Pat Cummins, Snick and Willow can speak to cricket lovers across
generations and cultures. It’s an incredibly exciting time for the project.” Ken Cantrill, original creator of the series and Head of Creative at Xentrix Studios Australia.
While Pat’s animated character is still in development, his involvement brings unprecedented star power and relevance to the show — ensuring that Snick and Willow not only entertains but also sparks a global movement around youth participation in cricket.
“Growing the game of cricket has always been incredibly important to me, what Snick and Willow is doing is really special — it’s a fun, vibrant way to bring cricket to kids everywhere. I’m especially excited about the role of Willow in the series, and how her journey can help inspire young girls to fall in love with cricket. This show has the potential to leave a real mark on the sport’s future.” Pat Cummins says.
Representing Cummins in the project is long-time manager and cricket advocate Neil Maxwell, who added: “Both Pat and myself are delighted for this opportunity to be part of such a unique project that only enhances the growth of the game we live and breathe. It’s going to be a fun ride watching kids from all over the world connect to this great game
via these two wonderful characters, Snick and Willow.”
Richard Ostroff, Head of Broadcast at Cricket Australia added: “Pat joining Snick & Willow as both an ambassador and character is very exciting and further underlines its extraordinary potential. Harnessing the power of quality storytelling to connect kids with cricket is a long overdue initiative. Snick & Willow is a ground-breaking project and we at Cricket Australia, alongside Pat, are proud to be part of the journey.”
