MELBOURNE, 29 December 2023: Commenting on former Pakistan Captain Babar Azam’s not so happy performance during Pakistan’s current Australia tour, former all rounder Shahid Afridi said, Babar Azam is internationally a highly rated player and backbone of the Pakistan team. Being a consistent  performer, his form will come back, he said.

Shahid Afridi was talking to the media at the MCG today.

About Sydney, he said, my experience there has been good. It depends how they are going to make the pitch. Most of the test matches I played there it looked like a spinning track and Pakistan has spinners with choices.

Shahid expects a lot from fast bowlers Rizwan, Babar and Shaheen as their performance in the past has been good. He expects them to give similar performances. But consistency in cricket is difficult, he said.

On the absence of Haris Rauf in the Pakistan team, Shahid wished he should have been there. Rauf has been active in the BBL with Melbourne Stars.
