ZCK centre celebrates Cultural Diversity Week with fervour and gaiety

 

MELBOURNE, 24 March 2026: Zee Cheng Khor Moral Uplifting Society’s, ZCK Community Centre, Clayton South today witnessed a lively and joyous celebration of the Cultural Diversity Week, consisting of multicultural and Multi faith Communities. The morning till later afternoon function was a potpourri of cultural and addresses by prominent community leaders and others.

Victoria’s Premier Jacinta Allan was warmly welcomed as she arrived to be part of the function. A big crowd including ZCK leaders and Meng Heang Tak MP, Clarinda, warmly received the Premier. There were photographs taken as an atmosphere of multiculturalism and diversity engulfed the place.

President Stephen Chew, in his address gave a fitting welcome to the Victorian Premier expressing happiness at her presence and giving strength to multicultural Victoria and supporting diversity with the inclusion of so many communities. Later talking to SAT, Stephen Chew said, ” I am honoured to have the presence of Victoria’s Premier and for the cultural diversity week with the Chinese and other communities. The community centre promotes interfaith unity and harmony among different cultures and faiths.”

Addressing the august gathering the Premier said the Victorian government stands with different faiths to practice their cultures, by protecting their way of life. There is a place for everyone in Victoria and the government will support different faiths for this. This people in this room represents the best of Victoria, she said. She praised the generations of migrants for the state’s multicultural ethos.

In his speech local member Meng Heang Tak MP, said Victoria’s Labour government under the leadership of Premier Jacinta Allan was not only promoting multiculturalism, but also solidly backing communities  during the cultural diversity week. This, he said, has led to inclusiveness and love in the communities. Talking to SAT, Meng said,  In a great atmosphere we are celebrating the Cultural Diversity Week with different faiths in harmony.

The event also saw a presentation by the  ZCK Tai Chi Group and a $1000 cheque was handed over to Hands of SAI Australia. The subsequent networking and lunch were appreciated by those present.

Zee Cheng Khor Moral Uplifting Society (ZCK), established in 2002, promotes world harmony through moral education and interfaith dialogue.
