

MELBOURNE, 30 July 2023: The BAPS Swaminarayan Research Institute, Australia organised a one day Hindu Scriptures conference at its temple in Mill Park today.
The scriptures covered were Ramayana, Isha Upnishad, Bhagavad Gita and the Satsang Diksha Granth.
Dr. Rajendra Kashyap (JET Foundation Australia) discussed the Ramayana, Bhakta Dasa (ISKON) discussed the Bhagavad Geeta, Sunichanand Swami (Ramakrishna Mission) explained the Isha Upshinad and Pujya Paramchintandas Swami (BAPS) discussed the Satsang Diksha Granth.
The speakers used Power point slides on big screen to explain their main points. Some of the points included Ram as role model, Sanatana dharma, detachment in attachment, way of living and dying, and so on.
BAPS Swaminarayan Research Institute was inaugurated in Australia in 2022 in the revered presence of Hindu faith leaders, Sanskrit language scholars, Indian community leaders, and members of the broader Victorian community. BAPS Swaminarayan Research Institute is dedicated to advancing research, learning, and the expression of scholarship and culture. This year’s conference provided a unique experience to learn about how the rich knowledge from the scriptures is still relevant in today’s day and age. It highlighted how ancient teachings are being used in daily life by millions across the world in their daily challenges and opportunities.

Hon. Colin Brooks, Minister for Housing and Multicultural Affairs, State member for Bundoora addressed the august gathering pinpointing the multicultural way of living in Victoria and Australia. He was impressed by the interesting lectures which delved into the lives of the people to make them happy and good citizens.

The program in the main hall of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, attracted a massive gathering of devotees and people from different organisations. Around 44 Indian community organisations actively serving the Victorian communities all over the state attended the event as guests.
The conference attendees left the event with the feeling of pride and rejuvenated enthusiasm to learn and practice the teachings from the Vedic Indian scriptures in their daily lives. BAPS Swaminarayan Research Institute also launched an online course, Introduction to Hinduism, on this occasion that starts in September this year.
The main speakers were facilitated on a decorated stage. The event concluded with ‘Mahaprashad’.
