‘Community Response Australia’ celebrates A-Day, R-Day

MELBOURNE, 26 January 2023: The Cinnamon Club, Cheltenham was decorated and full of celebration mood laced with people from different multicultural communities celebrating Australia Day and India’s Republic Day. There were people from India, South Sudan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and the usual subcontinent people. Many had come dressed in traditional colourful outfits later reflected in the dance performances. There were question – answers sessions with cinema tickets as prizes and a raffle also.

It was an evening with speeches, dances and networking. One performance that attracted was a Rubab recital by an Afghan artist. The Rubab is one of the national musical instruments of Afghanistan and can be seen and heard across many nearby countries.

There were speeches by invitees from all walks of life including Dr. Sushil Kumar, CG Melbourne, Bwe Thay (Deputy Chairman VMC), Mr Andrew Crisp (Commissioner EMV), Mandy Griffiths (Head of Stakeholders Engagement at Dffh) and Lee Tarmalis MP, South Eastern Metropolitan. Appreciation certificates were distributed  to all performers. Sunny Duggal and Manjit along with others played leading role in organising the event. The sponsors were thanked . The Indian food was tasty and it was a fun evening.
