MELBOURNE, 26 February 2023: The  Consulate General of India, Melbourne today celebrated the 74th Republic Day, at the Indian Consulate, St Kilda, with Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar unfurling the Indian tricolour. Hundreds of people assembled in front of the Consulate holding Indian flags and singing songs, as the Indian flag was unfurled early morning. Later Dr. Sushil Kumar, read out the Republic Day address of the Indian President, Droupadi Murmu in Hindi and English.  The Indian President touched many subjects tracing India’s progress over the last 74 years, since Independence in August 1947.

It was day of celebration with people getting photographed with the Indian flag and networking. The cultural program was a big hit. The consulate was decorated with tricolour balloons and snacks were appreciated. Dr. Santosh Kumar Yadav put up a Millet ladoo stall, promoting millets as healthy food. One could go to his stall and taste the ladoos, made with great voluntary effort by community members. No doubt, it was a great day of celebration for the Indian diaspora.
