Melbourne cops searching 2 Indians after alleged fatal stabbing

MELBOURNE, 6 May, 2024: Homicide Squad detectives have released details and images of two men, as well as an image of the vehicle they are believed to be travelling, following a stabbing in Ormond (south-east suburb) yesterday (5 May, 2024) where one Indian-origin man was killed and another was seriously injured. A search is currently underway for brothers Abhijeet Abhijeet and Robin Gartan, both of Indian descent and reportedly from Haryana.

Abhijeet is 26-years-old and described as being 170cm tall with a solid build and black hair. Gartan is 27-years-old and is also described as being 170cm tall with a solid build and black hair. Victoria Police believe, they are travelling in a stolen 2014 white Toyota Camry sedan with registration 1ZO 2QW. The pair was last seen in the Ormond area in the early hours of Sunday, 5 May shortly after the incident occurred.

Emergency services were called to a residential property about 1am on Sunday, 5 May following reports of a dispute. Upon arrival, two men were located with stab wounds.

A 30-year-old Noble Park man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, while a 22-year-old Noble Park was taken to hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries. It’s understood two other men fled the scene following the incident and police are continuing to search for the pair. It’s believed the parties involved in the incident were known to each other and police are still working to establish the cause of the dispute.

Investigators are keen to speak to anyone who knows the current whereabouts of these men.
