Quick Review: Crew takes light and funny flight

MELBOURNE, 16 April 2024: Three flight attendants with Kohinoor Airlines, Geeta Sethi, Jasmine Kohli, and Divya Rana are fed-up of delayed salaries and work hiccups, as the airlines moves towards bankruptcy. They are nabbed by customs and investigated for alleged gold smuggling. The three are angry at the airlines owner, whom they blame for their woes. The airlines declares bankruptcy and the owner Vijay Walia (a familiar sounding name)  escapes to Al Burj, Dubai.  The attendants (Keerana Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kirti Sanon) follow him to expose his doings.

Director Rajesh Krishnan’s ‘Crew’ is light and funny, with no male lead – a rare happening in an Indian movie. The trio – Keerana, Tabu and Kirti on a mission after getting a windfall of gold by chance, are the lead actors, laced with Diljit Dosanjh’s suggestive chemistry with Kirti, and heaps of lighthearted entertainment.

The trio’s mission is successful passing through hilarious episodes. The movie has 8 songs, with Ila Arun, Romi & Srushti’s ‘Ghagra’ and the ‘Choli ke pachee kya hi’  resung by Diljit Dosanjh, IP Singh, Alka Yagnik & Ila Arun leave a lasting mark.

At places the screenplay is sketchy, but the humour and light moments keep the movie going. We can’t call this a feminist movie, despite the three leading ladies not being ‘sanskari’. Well done, Kareena, Tabu and Kirti. And, so did Diljit.

The movie has been released by the Mind Blowing Films in Australia and is running successfully. All info: www.mindblowingfilms.com

A big relief after ‘Animal’ and ‘Monkey Man’.

Rating: 3 stars out of 5.
