MELBOURNE, 18 December 2022: The Indian cinema’s greatest showman Raj Kapoor got a glittering tribute here today, with the release of book ‘Raj Kapoor – The Master At Work, by the Indian Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar. The author producer Rahul Rawail was on the dias with actress Poonam Dhillion and others on the occasion.
The colourful and musical program with many movie songs from Rahul Rawail’s movies , where he introduced Indian cinemas leading actors and actresses, reverberated the Aurora Receptions in Brunswick East. Rahul wants people to read the book.
Rahul Rawail, no doubt, was nostalgic and fondly remembers the times and moments when he went with Rak Kapoor’s son and actor Rishi Kapoor to see the shooting of ‘Mera Naam Joker’. In his book “Raj Kapoor The Master at Work”, he goes down memory lane to document his revered ‘front row seat’ as an assistant director to him, the immortal master of Indian cinema. The book is as told to Pranika Sharma. In English the book is published by Bloomsbury and in Hindi by Prabhat Prakashan. Rahul described some of his nostalgic memories with Raj Kapoor.
Present at the function actress Poonam Dhillion answering to a question said she won a beauty contest in 1977 and was later contacted by producer- director Yash Chopra to act in his film Trishul (1978) that started her movies career. Actor Randhir Kapoor could not attend the event because of ill-health, sent a best wishes video message. The book launch was laced with excellent Hindi movie songs sung by local singers Vinay Kapoor and Mita Banerjee and dances on Bollywood tunes and songs.
