Shriram Iyer’s third album ‘Yours Truly, Siyer’ is out

MELBOURNE, 14 March 2023: Shriram Iyer, who goes by the stage name, Siyer (rhymes with ‘fire’ he says) has released his third studio album ‘ Yours Truly, Siyer’. The album comprises of 5 tracks with each song composed, written and sung by Siyer himself.

Siyer’s first album ‘Is Dhundh Mein’ was released in 2007, launched by musical stalwart, Shankar Mahadevan. The title song was a duet with Sadhna Sargam, with the music video for the title song being featured on MTV, Channel V and B4U music (where Siyer was the ‘artist of the fortnight’.)

Apart from a sprinkling of singles in between,  2022 saw Siyer collaborate with Singer-songwriter Bobby Beebob to release ‘The Saffron Groove Project’ last year. The album was an official entry into the 65th Grammy Awards and was also featured (and premiered) on Rolling Stone magazine. This year, Siyer hopes to go one step further.

Over the course of a 22 year career and counting, Siyer has many feathers in his musical cap. This includes high profile performances at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the Sydney Cricket Ground, The St Kilda Festival, The Moomba Festival and more. With over 500 live concerts, Siyer believes he is just getting started.

Here, we take a look at the tracks that form ‘Yours Truly, Siyer’:

Nindiya

This mellifluous song is a fictional conversation between Yashoda and a teenage Krishna, right as the latter moves to the city of Mathura, never to return to Yashoda. Through this song Siyer wishes to capture the moment between a mother and her grown-up son / daughter as they leave home for the first time.

Har Pal (2 versions)

The album has two versions of this composition, drenched in melody and romance. Siyer calls this song a tribute to love. Siyer wants this song to inspire and remind people about the sanctity and depth of love. The two versions complement each other well. Siyer’s lilting voice and words fit the composition well.

Ghar Laut Aya

You can almost smell the colours and flavours of India from this song. The song captures the phase in families that are separated geographically. The song is a throwback to when the pandemic was at its peak and family members were stranded in certain parts of the world with no way back home. The song gives a nod to the special and unshakeable bond that families share.

Shayaraana Si

This song is an ode to nature and was written in the light of natural disasters destroying lives in different parts of the world. The words capture the brilliance of mother nature, but also force us to reflect on the role we play in maintaining the delicate balance of sustainability.

The album is available on leading streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple music and YouTube. Siyer believes that for independent music to thrive, it will require greater platforms and support from music lovers, a trend he says is already growing, providing much needed encouragement to independent music creators.

Siyer is also a bestselling novelist of ‘Wings of Silence’ and ‘Let Me Go’ in addition to having provided his voice for 10 titles on Audible, including one by the then President of India, the late Shri Pranab Mukherjee (The Dramatic Decade).

Siyer’s primary occupation sees him deliver inspiring talks to employees of corporates and medium sized businesses on ‘peak performance’. He says that his speaking, singing, and writing all form part of his central purpose – “to spread joy and inspiration.”
