Set 1800 years ago, the story follows Kannaki’s journey of love, betrayal, and tragedy as she fights for her husband’s honour after he is wrongfully executed by the King. In a powerful display of righteous fury, the grief-stricken Kannaki confronts the King, unleashing a curse that engulfs the city of Madurai in flames. Silapathikaram is more than an epic of kings and battles – it’s a deeply human story of an ordinary couple grappling with universal themes, influenced by the traditions of Jainism, Buddhism, and Hinduism.
