Congress MP from Amritsar Gurjeet Singh Aujla welcomed in Melbourne

MELBOURNE, 19 May, 2026:  Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Congress MP, from Amritsar was given a warm reception here at the Shavans Indian Restaurant, Patterson Lakes, organised by the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC), Australia unit.

Mr. Gurjeet, addressed the well-attended gathering. He called upon the diaspora to unite and support the Congress party in the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections in 2027.

On this occasion, IOC Australia announced the expansion of its Punjab Chapter and appointed Lok Sabha in-charges for Punjab, who received their appointment letters from Mr. Gurjeet Singh Aujla. The gathering was also addressed by Labour’s  Lee Tarlamis MP, South Eastern Region.

Earlier, the Amritsar MP, was received at the Melbourne Airport by a large number from the Punjabi diaspora.

Among those present  at the reception were National Vice President Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, Punjab President Harpreet Singh Dodd, Spokesman and Secretary Ajwinder Johal, Victoria Punjab Chapter President Kawarpartap Singh, Youth President Victoria Punjab Chapter Bikram Sandhu, Punjab Chapter Secretary Jaskeerat Brar, General Secretary Taranjit Gill, Ajepal Bhinder, Gurdeep Singh, Barrister Gurpal Singh, Nav Sarkaria, Parminder Singh, Raman Pannu, Shelly Sandhu, Gurpreet Sandhu, Manpreet Kang, Parm Randhawa, Nirlep Singh, Jatinder Bhullar, Sandeep Singh Thothian, Gurinder Singh (Youth Secretary), along with several senior Congress leaders, members, and supporters.
