India’s 1983 Cricket World Cup win bash at Tawa Indian Griddle House

MELBOURNE, 4 September 2023: 25th June 1983, Kapil Dev and his India side made history, as they won the Cricket World Cup for the first time. Lord’s was the scene for India’s greatest cricketing triumph at the time, as they beat two-time winners West Indies by 43 runs to lift the coveted trophy.

The final of the 1983 Cricket World Cup was played between India and the West Indies at Lord’s on 25 June 1983. This was the third consecutive World Cup final appearance for the West Indies, having won the last two Cricket World Cups. India, playing in their first final, defeated the West Indies to claim their first World Cup title.

The 40th anniversary of this victory’s celebration dinner will be held in Melbourne on Wednesday 20 September, 2023 from 7 pm to 9.30 pm at the Rampal’s Tawa Indian Griddle House, Mountain Highway, Wantirna.

The special guest gracing the occasion will be Balvinder Singh Sandhu, key member of the winning 1983 team. He will have an exclusive chat on the special evening with Kapil Dev, Captain of the team that lifted the 1983 World Cup.
