Melbourne: If you are aged between 18-23 years and you are a person of Indian origin (not an Indian citizen) anywhere in the world then you can visit India with Indian government assistance and hospitality under the’ Know India Programme (KIP) for Diaspora Youth’. The next two KIPs to be conducted by the Ministry of Overseas Indians Affairs (MOIA) during 2012-13 will have Uttarakhand and Kerala as the partner States.
This year the first KIP will be from 5 November to 25 November 2012 and will be the north Indian state of Uttrakhand and the second one will be from 21 December 2012 to 10 January 2013 in the southern state of Kerala. The last date of submission of nominations are 3 September 2012 and 1November 2012 respectively, says a media release of the Indian Consulate.
List of applicants who are selected for the KIP would be communicated at least a month before its commencement.
According to the media release, “Selected participants would be required to purchase air ticket for their journey from Australia to India and back, as per the schedule prescribed by the MOIA. The Consulate would reimburse 90 per cent of the total cost of air ticket (at lowest economy excursion fare) to the participants on successful completion of the programme by them.”
Application forms and guidelines can be read or downloaded from the MOIA website – http://moia.gov.in.

One Response

  1. This is a great idea but I have had no responses from MOIA, the consulate in Melbourne or the High Commission in Canberra. A completed form was mailed to the consulate, again with no reply. An email read-receipt shows that at least one human opened the email.

    Disappointing.
