No religion superior or inferior: Satguru Uday Singh at Namdhari meet

MELBOURNE, 23 April 2023: An interfaith meeting of different religions and faith denomination representatives today expressed support for world peace. Attended by about 12 religious organisations under the slogan of ‘Religious Harmony for World Peace’, the largely attended public meeting at the Bunjil Place, Narre Warren, organised by the Namdahri Sikh Sangat, saw one after another speaker saying their faith bats for world peace. The Namdhari’s Satguru Uday Singh set the tone by saying he was feeling blessed because the Australia has given the freedom to practice different faiths. He quoted the Guru Granth Sahib to buttress the message of  uniting with the almighty by loosing one’s ego.  He said, ” No religion is superior or inferior.”

The august gathering was also addressed by the Indian High Commissioner, Mr. Manpreet Vohra who minced no words saying today the essence of faith teachings came out from representatives of different faiths and these teachings of compassion, mutual love, of fragility, of good neighbourliness and respect for all were summed up well by Satguru Uday Singh’s  in his speech. This, Mr. Vohra said, were vital for religious harmony helping in world peace. He expressed his happiness at the presence of different faith representatives and the audience as a reflection of India’s diversity.

Those who attended  or spoke at the function included prominent representatives form different Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Buddhist organisations of faiths and denominations, Dr. Sushil Kumar, India’s Consul General, Melbourne among others. Mr Jason Wood MP also addressed the gathering. The common thread of the speakers was to reinforce the message of peace and harmony in the world which they said was reflected through their faiths.

In a media release the Namdahri Sikh Sangat said, ” With a history replete with tales of sacrifice in the fight for justice and freedom in India, we advocate for an atmosphere of equality and respect for all. We believe that it is our duty to work towards a world that is free from discrimination, oppression, and violence. Our community is committed to promoting the values of love, compassion, and harmony that are central to the Sikh faith.

Through this seminar, we hope to bring together people of different faiths and cultures to explore ways in which we can build bridges and promote mutual understanding and respect. We believe that by sharing our experiences and perspectives, we can learn from one another and work towards a more peaceful and harmonious world.”
