MELBOURNE, 9 November 2022: Amid the mesmerizing hymns and devotion, came the announcement of setting up a Disaster Relief and Community Space in Thomastown. One such center already is run by Turbans4Australia, which since 2015, has specialized in providing emergency goods to people in need regardless of their race, religion, or ethnicity.
They assist people who include those experiencing financial hardship, food insecurity, homelessness, and unemployment, as well as those impacted by natural disasters such as bushfires, floods, and drought.
Talking to South Asia Times (SAT), Amar Singh, President & Founder of Turbans4Australia says the center here will be a community space during tough times & will also have a broadcasting facility for community media.
Thomastown MP Bronwyn Halfpenny, Labor was also present at the function.
A large number of people attended today’s function which saw a Sikh religious ‘Paath’ and ‘Langar’ (community eating) as a uniting factor for helping communities during tough times and standing up for multicultural Australia.
